Puzzle #92: Frameless Sudoku

I had a few ideas to create openings in this genre, when I had first thought of it. This puzzle uses one I hadn't put in before. It's much easier to put in than to spot. Although I made sure to at least mark it better than I had originally wanted to put it in. But the first time I showed someone the opening, they never found it till I pointed it out. So this is an easier variant of the opening. It's still a challenging puzzle, but I always enjoy playing around with this sudoku variation.

Rules for Sudoku

The numbers on the outside indicate the sum of the first digits encountered in that row or column from that side. The amount of digits can differ from sum to sum and can be only one digit.

[Edit: fixed a typo in column 2]

  2. Sorry. That was a typo in column 2. Should say 22 instead of 33.

  3. I ran into a contradiction halfway through...restarted carefully and ran into it again. Is it just me?

    1. The solution matches the puzzle. Want to show me where you get stuck?

    2. Whoops, never mind. I started going through it triply-carefully to prepare something to show you, and arrived at a complete solution this time. Sorry!

    3. I have done that too. Try to prepare why it would be incorrect and then find I had made a wrong conclusion in the process.

  4. Nice opening. Very hard grid. I need some "trial and error" work after having filled around 1/3 of the grid. Unfortunately, after having solved this one, one remember perhaps more that the grid was so hard than the brilliant opening.
