Puzzle #38: Yajilin

Rules for Yajilin

When I make larger puzzles, I seem to find new things to put in. But the only new things I seem to be able to find on larger scale are hard steps I wouldn't have room for on a small scale. I think that's why I'm not much a fan of large Slitherlink puzzles as you can't really put anything in them that doesn't fit on a smaller scale. As my previous Castle Wall puzzle, this one is also a tough one to crack.
I did something silly with the clue placement, which I didn't realise at first. I wasn't 100% sure how to handle the corners, so I basically made it clear at the start what to do with them.

  1. Took me a week of on-and-off work to solve it. Not sure what the necessarily-large-scale steps were, so I don't know that you couldn't put them in a few 15x15s. (There's one here I think would look cute in a 10x10, where one clue's line of sight is tangent to a second clue, and that means the three cells in that line of sight king-adjacent to the second clue can contain at most one shaded square.)

  2. I think they would probably fit into a 15 by 15. I just happen to start with a 25 by 25 grid and see what I can do with it.
I was mostly thinking of partitioning issues of larger clues over areas over 10 cells and parallel clues in adjacent lines that limit the amount of black squares that can be coloured(as you can colour only 2 squares per 2x3 rectangle). I don't think this second one is limited for larger puzzles but over larger areas they are a bit harder to oversee.
